Sewage Incident in Eureka
A new hazardous materials incident involving sewage has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a residence in Eureka at around 3 p.m. today.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
Per reporting party: Callers wife was cleaning debris in her pasture and smelled a strong odor coming from fresh water creek which is believed to empty into Humbolt Bay. After further investigation RP states that the smell is possibly sewage. This release has not been stopped or contained. Clean up is unknown.
This was the second hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the eighth sewage spill in the county overall.
