Petroleum Incident in Eureka
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a ship/harbor/port in Eureka at around 8:44 a.m. today.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
Per NRC "CALLER STATES THEY DISCOVERED AN UNKNOWN SHEEN FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE AT THE INCIDENT LOCATION. THE SHEEN IS REDDISH IN COLOR AND IS APPROX. 5FT X 5FT. CLEAN UP CREW ON SCENE. ABSORBENTS AND BOOMS DEPLOYED."
This was the third hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the sixth petroleum spill in the county overall.
