Petroleum Incident in Redway

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a residence in Redway at around 2 a.m. today.

About two gallons of a substance described as ” transformer oil (non pcb)” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

The caller reports that a tree collided with a pole during a storm event, resulting in a release of 2 gallons of Transformer Oil (Non PCB) onto the soil. Rain carried the transformer oil to a nearby private pond. The release has been stopped and contained, but the private pond has been impacted. A contractor is en route to assess and recover as much oil as possible.
