Petroleum Incident in Trinidad

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a residence in Trinidad at around 11 a.m. yesterday.

About one gallon of a substance described as “oil, transformer - non pcb” was released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

A storm event damaged an overhead transformer and resulted in approximately 1-gallon of oil to be spilled onto soil. No fires or private property damage occurred. An environmental specialist conducted a cleanup of the impacted area and technicians completed permanent repairs.

This was the second hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Trinidad area this year and the 11th petroleum spill in the county overall.
