Petroleum Incident in Willow Creek
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near merchant/business in Willow Creek at around 4:37 a.m. on Saturday, May 4.
About 30 gallons of a substance described as “non pcb insulating oil” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
Per reporting party, due to adverse weather a tree struck a pole mounted transformer resulting in the release of approximately 30 gallons of Non PCB Insulating oil onto dirt. The release has been stopped and contained with no impact to waterways. The release has been cleaned up by the reporting party.
This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Willow Creek area this year and the 18th petroleum spill in the county overall.
