Incident in Unincorporated County Area Humboldt

A new hazardous materials incident has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a road in Unincorporated county area Humboldt at around 9 a.m. on Friday, June 14.

About 170 gallons of a substance described as “raw milk” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Per the reporting party, while transporting milk, a tractor trailer tanker truck spilled the listed amount of raw milk from a leaking hose because of a damaged hose cap valve. The milk spilled for a distance of approximately one mile along Highway 211 at Fern Bridge until the truck operator was able to safely stop . When the operator stopped, he secured the release and repaired the hose. No waterways were impacted.

This was the second hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Unincorporated county area Humboldt area this year.
