Petroleum Incident in Eureka

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Eureka at around 4 p.m. on Friday, July 26.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Per NRC Report: CALLER REPORTED THAT THE BILGE PUMP ON THE D DOCK MARINA HAD A PRESSURE ISSUE THAT RELEASED AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF OILY BILGE WATER CREATING A SMALL SHEEN ON HUMBOLDT BAY. REMEDIAL ACTIONS: BOOM WAS DEPLOYED AND OIL PADS BEING USED FOR CLEAN-UP.

This was the 14th hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the 24th petroleum spill in the county overall.
