Petroleum Incident in Eureka
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Eureka at around 4:05 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
Per NRC report: The caller is reporting an unknown sheen from an unknown source in Humboldt Bay
Remedial Action: Booms applied, absorbents applied, material contained, clean up crew on-site, clean up underway
This was the 16th hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the 28th petroleum spill in the county overall.
