Petroleum Incident in McKinleyville
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a residence in McKinleyville at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
Less than five gallons of a substance described as “non pcb mineral oil” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

Per the reporting party:During the change out of a overhead transformer workers notice stains on the concrete below and on the pole. It was found that less that five gallons on non PCB oil was released onto the soil from the transformer. This release has been stopped an contained and no waterways were impacted.
This was the fourth hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the McKinleyville area this year and the 32nd petroleum spill in the county overall.
