Sewage Incident in Garberville
A new hazardous materials incident involving sewage has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a residence in Garberville at around 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
Per reporting party, this is an ongoing incident involving an unknown quantity of a black substance, possibly sewage, leaking from a restroom at the rear of the location. The release has not yet been stopped or contained, and no waterways have been impacted at this time. However, it could pose a potential hazard to the environment. There are three separate streams on the property, but none have been affected so far.
This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Garberville area this year and the 14th sewage spill in the county overall.
