Petroleum Incident in Phillipsville
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near waterways in Phillipsville at around 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27.
About 0.5 gallons of a substance described as “hydraulic oil” were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
Per the reporting party: A stolen tractor was crashed into the south fork of the Eel River causing a release of about half a gallon of hydraulic oil into the river. The hydraulic oil is deemed unrecoverable and the owner of the tractor will be responsible for removing the tractor.
This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Phillipsville area this year and the 36th petroleum spill in the county overall.
