Petroleum Incident in Benbow

A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a road in Benbow at around 7:56 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Per reporting party, driver pulled over on the side of the road and noticed there was a release of diesel. The driver used a bucket to contain it but is unknown if stopped or how much was released. No waterways were impacted.

This was the first hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Benbow area this year and the 38th petroleum spill in the county overall.
