Petroleum Incident in McKinleyville
A new hazardous materials incident involving petroleum has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a residence in McKinleyville at around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:
The reporting party states that there is a release of an unknown amount of motor oil coming from an abandoned vehicle at the given location. The release is impacting the roadway, and it is unknown if any waterways were impacted at the time of the report. It is unknown if the release has been stopped or contained. There has been no remedial actions.
This was the seventh hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the McKinleyville area this year and the 42nd petroleum spill in the county overall.
