Sewage Incident in Fortuna
A new hazardous materials incident involving sewage has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.
According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a lift station in Fortuna at around 10:21 p.m. yesterday.
About 7,150 gallons of sewage were released to the environment, according to the person who called in the report.

The reporting party states that there were 7,150 gallons of sewage that overflowed from a sewer lift station due to unknown reasons, impacting Rohner Creek. The release was controlled by 2354 hours on 12/23/2024. The sewage that was released will be unrecoverable.
This was the sixth hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Fortuna area this year and the 22nd sewage spill in the county overall.
