Sewage Incident in Eureka

A new hazardous materials incident involving sewage has been reported to the California Office of Emergency Services.

According to a report published by the office, the incident took place at or near a residence in Eureka at around 5 a.m. today.

Here’s the description of the incident that was recorded by the Office of Emergency Services:

Per the reporting, due to the storm sure causing the release of unknown amount of sewage from manhole onto aspaht and veggitation and soil at a flow rate of 35 gallons a minute

and is flowing into the erurka slue not a drinkwater souse down stream is humbold bay

the responcibale party, Humbold comunitai servise distric will be handling the cleanup

crea are activly recoving release as of the time of this report.

This was the 23rd hazardous materials incident recorded by the Office of Emergency Services in the Eureka area this year and the 24th sewage spill in the county overall.
