Under general direction from the Supervising Librarian, the Senior Library Assistant
Develops, promotes, and presents programs to foster literacy, creativity, and life-long learning
Creates a welcoming environment in the Library, providing outstanding customer service and creating a dynamic and inviting physical space.
Represents the Library at community events, meetings, and other functions
Actively participates in outreach and community engagement activities
Participates in the selection of library materials to meet the needs of patrons
Supervises and coordinates Ferndale Library extra-help staff and volunteers

This position will work Tuesday through Saturday, and includes evening hours.
This position will rotate between the Ferndale, Fortuna, and Rio Dell Library Branches.
Must possess a valid California driver’s license. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as required.
Desirable Education and Experience:
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills outlined above is:
One year of paraprofessional library experience providing direct patron services at a level equivalent to the County’s class of Library Assistant II.
