Position Summary: The Program Coordinator will manage the Eureka Chinatown Project, an initiative of Humboldt Asians & Pacific Islanders in Solidarity, HAPI, (www.hapihumboldt.org) to honor the history and culture of the first Chinese people in Humboldt County, California.
Wage: $30 to $40/hour depending on experience and qualifications.
Location: This is a hybrid position. Some work will be done remotely, but an in-person presence is required at all events, public meetings, and meetings with civic groups, non-profit organizations, and HAPI. The in-person events are generally in Eureka and Arcata, California, and can be as often as a few times per week.
Work Hours and Schedule: Approximately 16-20 hours per week for two years, with a possibility of extending beyond two years. Hours are flexible during the work week, and some weeks may require more hours and some weeks fewer.
Supervisors: The Program Coordinator will coordinate work with a team of three HAPI Directors. HAPI is a DreamMaker project of the Ink People Center for Arts and Culture, and employment will be with the Ink People.

Job Description:
Eureka Chinatown Project Program Coordinator
Project Duties:
With assistance from HAPI/ECP volunteers:
● Develop a curriculum to be used at K-12 schools about the Chinatowns in Humboldt County, their expulsions, and enduring banishment for 70 years.
● Develop and publish a children’s book about Chinatown.
● Develop a virtual tour of Chinatown and coordinate/assist web designer to implement.
● Coordinate and train volunteer docents for Eureka Chinatown tours. Program Coordinator will also lead tours.
Support the Eureka Chinatown Monument Project:
● Work with Eureka Chinatown Monument Project Manager (who coordinates the construction and installation of the Monument), committee members, and public agencies.
● Meet with Ink People Center for Arts and Culture staff as needed.
● Engage with donors, funders, and members of the community to cultivate and respond to funding opportunities.

Provide public outreach and maintain partnerships:
● Cultivate and maintain relationships with ECP partners, including schools and school districts, nonprofits, foundations, community organizations, government entities, and businesses.
● Organize and present to local community groups, the public, and schools the monument’s significance and the history and role of Chinatown communities in Humboldt County
● Represent HAPI/ECP at Eureka Cultural Arts District meetings.
Administrative Duties:
● Write and submit reports as required by grantors. These may include evaluations, invoices, program documentation, and deliverables for our Coastal Stories and California Humanities grants. Program Coordinator’s duties may include grant writing.
● Recruit, train and coordinate student interns and volunteers to ensure smooth operations of programs and events.
● Coordinate and document meetings.
● Track project budgets and manage paper and digital project files.
Other Duties as Assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
● Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
● Experience in coordinating, implementing, and publicizing large and small-scale events.
● Strong problem-solving skills.
● Strong cultural competency to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds, particularly those from Asian American/Pacific Islander communities.
● Administrative experience, such as fielding solicitation emails, budget tracking, coordinating meetings, and other administrative duties as assigned.
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience presenting projects to a variety of audiences and being a “public face” to various community organizations.
● Ability to produce detailed reports and documents (such as financial).
● Knowledge and experience using standard office computer applications such as Zoom, Google email and calendars, Word, Excel.
● Must have own car and valid driver’s license as we are in a rural area with little public transportation.
