NOW HIRING – FULL-TIME COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICER (CSO)
The City of Rio Dell is seeking a professional, community-oriented individual to join our Police Department as a Community Service Officer (CSO). This vital non-sworn position supports law enforcement services through administrative and field assignments, improving overall public safety while strengthening community relationships.

POSITION:
Community Service Officer (Non-Sworn)
STATUS: Full-Time
SALARY: $47,797-$57,201 Annually

BENEFITS PACKAGE:
• 457B Retirement Benefit: City contributes 10% of annual income, plus an additional 4% with employee match
• Life Insurance Policy: $75,000 coverage
• Paid Holidays: 13 paid holidays, plus your birthday and one additional floater
• Vacation Time:
o Two (2) weeks paid vacation through year three (3)
o Three (3) weeks paid vacation beginning year four (4)
• Sick Leave: Accrue one (1) day per month
• Uniform Allowance: Provided four times per year
• Health, Dental & Vision Coverage:
o 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision for employees
o 70% employer-paid health coverage for dependents

TYPICAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
• Taking police reports for non-emergency incidents (e.g., theft, vandalism, vehicle burglaries)
• Performing traffic and parking enforcement, including citation issuance and signage checks
• Animal control duties, including response to stray animals, and kennel care
• Coordinating residential/vehicle abatement and clean-up/towing operations
• Lead role in nuisance abatement and municipal code enforcement
• Providing traffic control at accident scenes, community events, and during emergencies
• Collecting, processing, and managing evidence, found property, and lost items
• Supporting records management: entering, retrieving, and filing police reports and citations
• Answering phones, assisting the public at the front counter, and providing information or referrals
• Assisting sworn officers with non-hazardous duties in the field as needed
• Participating in community engagement programs and public safety outreach

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must possess a valid California driver’s license
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to pass a background check and physical evaluation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Prior experience in customer service, public safety, animal control, or law enforcement support preferred
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
