Great Redwood Trail Agency
Posted: July 2, 2025

We are looking for a Trail Development Manager to lead the creation of GRTA’s Trail Development Division and oversee trail segment development in coordination with partners across jurisdictions. The Trail Development Manager will be the first leader of GRTA’s new Trail Development Division. We’re seeking a leader with a passion for trails, active transportation, recreation infrastructure, and community-based planning. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in California public works contracting and construction management and will help establish GRTA’s new Trail Development Division—developing a staffing structure and internal systems to enable the agency to lead trail planning, design, and construction based on our master plan and in coordination with partners across the North Coast.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape the division’s structure, oversee future staff and consultants, and guide trail segment development. The manager will coordinate with partners across jurisdictions and lead implementation of the GRT Master Plan—developing internal systems for trail planning, design, permitting, and construction. Responsibilities include managing trail projects occurring on GRTA property for both GRTA-led and partner-led efforts, ensuring work aligns with agency standards, regulatory requirements and trail design parameters. The manager will also create a phased plan and budget for trail buildout, adapting priorities as new opportunities and conditions emerge.
