Reports to: Executive Team of the NorCAN Steering Committee
Hours: Part time, flexible, 12 hours per week
Salary: $23 per hour
Location: Work can be done remotely, but workspace may be available, and some regular NorCAN office hours may be required
Start Date: January 1, 2026
The Northern California Association of Nonprofits (NorCAN) is seeking a Program Coordinator to work 12 hours per week to support the association’s mission to serve the nonprofit sector on California’s rural North Coast. NorCAN’s primary focus is to foster professional excellence and promote connectedness among people and organizations that work every day to make our community healthy and strong.
The applicant should be a motivated self-starter who can work with little supervision and can work collaboratively with the Steering Committee. The applicant will be accountable for duties described in the job description below.
Required Qualifications:
-Strong coordination and communication skills
-Ability to concurrently manage multiple projects
-Ability to work independently and collaboratively
-Basic knowledge of nonprofit structure and operations
-Experience with event planning and coordination
-Valid driver’s license (occasional local travel required for meetings, trainings, and events)
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with website, listserv, and social media management
-Graphic design experience in Canva or another graphics platform
-Familiarity with Eventbrite or a similar event management program
-Experience with fundraising or grant writing

NorCAN Program Coordinator Job Description
Communications & Outreach
• Process incoming listserv submissions and membership requests via Gaggle (all weekdays).
• Monitor and manage nonprofit job board submissions through the WordPress website.
• Share weekly nonprofit job postings through social media and the listserv.
• Design and distribute promotional materials for workshops and events (e.g., flyers, social posts, email content).
Website & Systems Management
• Maintain and update content on the NorCAN website using WordPress.
• Maintain organizational resources such as the nonprofit directory, consultant list, community calendars, and Facebook groups.
• Monitor and be active on social media accounts – including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Program Coordination
• Plan nonprofit training, workshops, and events:
o Meet and coordinate with consultants regarding training logistics and content.
o Draft and manage consultant contracts.
o Create registration pages and manage participant lists.
o Handle scholarship applications and participant communications.
o Coordinate all event logistics, space rentals, including setup, printed materials, signage, coffee/snacks, and technology needs.
o Promote events through various channels, including social media, flyers, and local news outlets.
o Submit check requests for consultant payments and space rentals.
• Provide support for large events such as Conferences or Forums as needed (additional hours and compensation can be negotiated for this support).
• Coordinate monthly roundtable sessions with consultants
Steering Committee Support
• Organize monthly Steering Committee meetings via Zoom:
o Gather and share budget updates, workshop updates, and other relevant items.
o Send calendar invites, Zoom links, and supporting materials.
o Attend meetings and annual retreat.
Resource Development & Sector Support
• Respond to inquiries from nonprofits via email and phone, providing information, resources, and referrals.
• Works with local consultants and facilitators for upcoming workshops and events based on past outreach and Steering Committee guidance.
