The City of Rio Dell seeks an experienced professional to serve as City Clerk. This key position serves as the official record keeper, supports legislative functions, manages municipal elections, and acts as liaison between city government and the public.
Key Responsibilities
Manage permanent city records including ordinances, resolutions, and agreements. Serve as Secretary and Parliamentary Advisor to City Council and Planning Commission, preparing agendas, notices, and minutes. Coordinate public information services and serve as Lead Public Information Official during emergencies. Administer municipal elections and manage FPPC filings in compliance with state law. Provide administrative support to the City Manager and Building Department, and assist with HR and Risk functions.
Qualifications
Required: Expertise in municipal records management, elections administration, and parliamentary procedure. Strong knowledge of city codes, open meeting laws, and public agency operations. Excellent communication and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficiency with office technology and software applications. Valid California Class C Driver’s License.
Desired: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Political Science, Communications, Accounting, or related field. Municipal Clerk’s office experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Certification: Must obtain Certified Municipal Clerk designation within four years of hire.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $26.94–$34.25/hour | Retirement: 457(b) with 12% city contribution + optional 4% match | Health Insurance: Platinum level coverage—100% employer-paid for employee, 70% for dependents | Time Off: 12 paid holidays plus birthday and floater, vacation and sick leave accrual, 80 hours annual administrative leave | Life Insurance: $75,000
