Humboldt Transit Authority is seeking a proactive and independent trailblazer to establish and grow a new project management position. The ideal candidate is passionate about human-centric public infrastructure, motivated by the long-term vision of catalyzing vibrant public spaces, energized by public engagement, and committed to reducing the climate impact of our community. The successful candidate will thrive with a fast growing and fast paced workload and appreciate managing a wide variety of different projects ranging in scope and complexity (for example, eight-figure projects with multiple phases, components and funding sources over many years, innovative and cutting-edge technology development projects, and quick and simple site improvements). The successful candidate will welcome working at the forefront of cutting edge and high-profile projects (such as catalyzing the development of a hydrogen market and supply chain in the North State) while appreciating the smaller core projects that improve our local community and the day-to-day experience of our passengers (such as improving bus stop infrastructure).

As this is a new position being offered, there is opportunity to help define and shape how it will fit into the organization and support the Agency’s core mission of getting our community where they need to go safely and reliably. This position advances this mission at the intersection of planning, operations and infrastructure development while collaborating across multiple different teams including operations, maintenance, safety, and finance. The successful candidate will be a key partner through an unprecedented period of growth for the Agency. They will play a key role in supporting HTA through the implementation of significant changes in operations to meet aggressive transit ridership growth targets while transitioning to a zero emission fleet.

The culture at HTA is one of comradery that welcomes and respects a diversity of perspectives in a warm and welcoming environment. We are our best when everyone has a voice. We place high value in supporting and retaining employees, encouraging professional growth opportunities, and prioritizing communication and knowledge exchange across teams. We actively support a true work-life balance.
