SoHum Health is seeking a Chief Nursing Officer to provide leadership and clinical management to all Patient Care areas of Jerold Phelps Community Hospital and Southern Humboldt Community Clinic. Jerold Phelps Community Hospital is a federally designated Critical Access Hospital with a 4-bed Emergency department, 9-bed Acute Care unit, 8-bed residential Skilled Nursing unit, Laboratory, and Radiology services. Southern Humboldt Community Clinic is a federally designated Rural Health Clinic, providing primary care and home health services.

The Chief Nursing Officer works as part of the Administrative team to provide the highest quality patient care services attainable, while ensuring a cost-effective operation. The CNO is responsible for high quality and appropriate nursing care in all departments, competency and compliance of clinical staff, survey readiness, and resource management related to patient care. Jerold Phelps Community Hospital is the only hospital within a 50-mile radius in rural Northern California. As such, the CNO works closely with hospital and clinic managers to respond to and best meet the medical needs of the isolated and underserved local population. The Chief Nursing Officer will directly oversee the managers of the clinic, emergency department, acute care unit, skilled nursing unit, laboratory and radiology departments. The Chief Nursing Officer will also play a critical role in the development of construction plans for SoHum Health’s new hospital build, to ensure optimal patient care and work flow. The CNO candidate will be joining SoHum Health at a pivotal time and have the unique opportunity to guide and shape the quality of healthcare in Southern Humboldt County for generations to come.

Current California RN license required. BSN, PALS, TNCC, MICN & ACLS required. Minimum of 5 years of previous nursing management experience, same level or next level in acute healthcare facility required.
