Post Holiday Materials Collection

SCRAP Humboldt

As the Holidays wind down, SCRAP Humboldt encourages the community to Reuse materials where they can, when they can. If you have an excess of Holiday realted items, SCRAP Humboldt will be collecting specific materials from your holiday waste stream during their normal Saturday hours on January 18 from 10a.m. to 2p.m. Items that will be collected include calendars, gift bags, gift boxes, ribbon and bows, cardboard wrapping paper rolls, metallic wrapping paper, large folded flat sheets of wrapping paper, working Christmas lights, cookie and popcorn tins, garland, tinsel, and tissue paper.

Christmas trees are not accepted at this site — please bring these to any facility accepting green waste or yard debris.

The Second Annual Post Holiday Materials Collection will kick off Donation Saturdays, where the nonprofit project will begin only accepting material donations on Saturdays. To see a list of materials accepted for donation, please click here, or visit SCRAP Humboldt at 101 south H. Street in Arcata.

In 2012, SCRAP Humboldt collected over 300lbs of post holiday waste at their previous Jacoby Storehouse pop-up shop location. SCRAP Humboldt is a project of SCRAP, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to inspire creative reuse and environmentally sustainable behavior by providing educational programs and affordable materials to the community.
