42nd Annual Winter Arts Faire
The community is warmly invited to the Mateel Community Center’s 42nd Annual Winter Arts Faire. This cozy winter gathering in the hall celebrates the winter season with beautiful crafts and gifts for sale by new and returning vendors, local entertainment, and delicious food and drink for sale. This year our kitchen will be offering turducken stew topped with southern cornbread stuffing and crispy cracklins, locally-grown squash stuffed with your choice of locally raised pork sausage or vegan gluten-free grains and veggies. From opening until 2pm, we’ll be offering brunch from a bit south of the border: huevos rancheros casserole with house-made chorizo—there will also be a vegetarian option. Other fare will include: French onion soup, roasted balsamic-glazed winter veggies on a bed of greens, nachos, quesadillas, and baked potatoes with your choice of toppings. Desserts will include cookies, pie and can you even have a holiday celebration without bread pudding? We didn’t think so either. We’ll be welcoming back popular vendors like Tres Bien Creamery, who offer pre-packaged gourmet cheeses, Kalimba hand-woven baskets, Gourmet Temptations, who offer high-end condiments and oils, Adam’s Olives (olives, olive oil, pickled veggies), and Round Tuit Spoonz (wooden kitchen utensils), and many more. But we will also be welcoming new vendors as well! Will O’ the Wisp (decoupaged light switch covers), Heartwood Mountain Sanctuary (hand-painted functional stoneware), We Bee Kind (pet tincture, bath bombs, salve, foot soaks and gummies), Thyme Francis Designs (Women’s clothing, leather bags and wallets) and Musi & Vanessa Jewelry (silver, gold, copper & brass jewelry) and many more. Also enjoy a variety of local musicians such as Marcia Mendels and Chris Manspeaker, Ari Guillette, Aiyana and Wayra, Jammies by 9, Paul Turner, Zech Gravander, Bud Rogers, Singing Nettles (Ari and Ruby Guillette), Mark Goo, and the Hot Toddy Carolers! Of course jolly old St. Nicholas will be visiting from the North Pole in the early afternoon, so make sure to bring the kiddos! He’ll be able to tell who’s been naughty and who’s been nice. For grown-ups we will have hot buttered rum and other winter holiday inspired libations! The doors open at 10am and the Faire runs until 6pm both days, Saturday and Sunday December 8th and 9th. Admission is $5 for general public, free for Mateel members and children 12 and under. See you there, on the hill at 59 Rusk lane, Redway! Sincerely, The Mateel Community Center Board of Directors
