55th Annual Orick Rodeo
Orick Chamber of Commerce is happy to invite you to the 55th Annual Orick Rodeo. We are kickin’ it up in the Redwoods July 9th and 10th at the Orick Rodeo Grounds. Keep up with breaking news by liking us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/theorickrodeo/
Enjoy beer, food, treats and gifts from our vendors this year including Orick Volunteer Fire Department for beer; EdeBee’s Sweets & Treats; McKinleyville FFA Food Booth and the Orick Chamber Watering Hole, Chuckwagon & BBQ.
Orick Rodeo offers events the whole family can enjoy, whether you watch from the bleachers or participate as a cowboy, cowgirl or cow-anything else (ya’all have to be politically correct these days). This small town ADA accessible event begins at 9:00 a.m. Saturday with all the local favorites. A must-see is the Mutton Bustin’ starting at 3:00 p.m. At 5:00 p.m. (that’s 17:00 for our military families) Junior Steer Riding starts followed by Calf Riding. Professional CCPRA events begin immediately after.
On Sunday the fun begins with Quad Barrel Racing at 11:00 a.m. You don’t want to miss Orick’s World Famous Deep Pit Barbeque Lunch at Noon. Volunteers stay up all night keeping that giant barbecue pit hot with coals to get the perfect six feet of coals needed to roast all that beef. Look for many of our local politicians and civic leaders volunteering in the serving lineup. Get your cameras ready for the Kids’ games beginning at 1:00 p.m. (13:00) with Mutton Bustin’ and steer riding. At 2:30 p.m. (14:30) the CCPRA Rodeo events complete this fantastic family fun weekend.
Thanks go to our major sponsors: BRN Trucking, Redwood Capital Bank, Les Schwab Tires, Pacific Watershed, Traveling Wrench, Miller Farms, SHN Engineering, Henderson Center Bicycles and Ming Tree Realty
Orick Rodeo is on the California Cowboys Pro Rodeo Association (CCPRA) circuit. Each year, contestants at CCPRA rodeos vie for over $500,000 in prize money. This money is raised through entry fees and other additional money added to the purses, making these events some of the most lucrative for contestants on the west coast. What sets the CCPRA apart from other rodeo associations is the emphasis it places on giving back to the communities where its rodeos are held.
CCPRA rodeo events both days include:
• Bull riding
• Bareback riding
• Saddle bronc
• Team roping
• Calf roping
• barrel racing
• Steer wrestling
• Breakaway roping
Sunday only: Calf Dressing
Please, NO DOGS or ICE CHESTS ALLOWED
