Cyrus Smith moved back to Arcata to settle back in 2015 and helped formalize the artist residency program as well as curated the gallery here 2016-2017. 
Formerly releasing music as Cicada Song (with Alison Kinney), Smith is releasing his solo debut, “Bloom”. The album is co-produced by David Allred, who brings shimmering sonic textures to Smith’s sparse folk arrangements. Anchored by Smith’s nylon string guitar, the recordings feature multi-instrumentalist Daniel Nickerson on percussion and electric guitar. The album is out on streaming services now. 
Smith Smith is also often found playing the bass for local fixtures “The Cowtown Serenaders” and “The Blueberry Hill Boogie Band
