NYC bassist Ben Allison has been a Redwood Jazz Alliance audience fave since he first rocked Fulkerson Recital Hall at the helm of his group “Man Size Safe” back in 2009. The music of the co-operatively led trio AC&N has a softer vibe that rings with “wit, beauty, and deftly dancing-in-your-head interplay,” as Slate magazine put it. Their Left Coast run previews a new album, Triological, whose official release they’ll celebrate with a three-night stand at New York’s Birdland next week.
