An Evening with Calista LaBolle

Phatsy Kline’s Parlor Lounge

Description: A little bit of Adele, a little bit of Amy, a little bit of Stevie Wonder…it’s hard to describe, come and find out! A little about me and my songwriting journey: I’ve always been a musical person starting with singing at a young age, choirs and taking piano lessons. Songwriting is something I’ve done here and there from an early age. I never really spent much time on it until after high school as a way to process emotions and the roller coaster of feelings that go with new college experiences (boys/relationships). Then it took a backseat while I was in a long-term relationship, I only wrote a few songs in those 8 years. After we broke up, songs were pouring out of me as a way to cope. My lyric content covers breakup, starting over, new experiences, fantasizing to stalking. My songs again became a way for me to process my emotions and grow. I’ve only performed my original music a few times in public. The first time was at Humboldt State University as a collaboration with students from the dance department. Two dancers overheard me in a practice room at HSU and asked to choreograph a dance to my song, it was then chosen for the semester final showcase to be performed in the Van Duzer Theater. This was in 2009 and I didn’t play publicly again until last year! Performing for you is a big step for me in this labor of love. I hope you enjoy it!
