Zeno’s Curious Goods

Zeno’s Curious Goods is proud to bring Portland, Oregon artist Greg Bye to Arts Alive September. Greg Bye is an artist living in Portland, Oregon, where he has been active, for two decades, in the area’s dynamic arts community. Greg works primarily with acrylic paint, but also draws ( graphite, pastel, ink) and collages with mixed media. The artist’s formal art education was mostly participating in classes at Portland’s The Drawing Studio. The Drawing Studio provided space where students could uncover and develop their respective artistic styles. Classes frequently featured live models, for detailed studies. Reproductions of paintings and drawings by prominent artists, as well as images from photographs and magazines, were also used for reference. Hand held mirrors gave students close access to facial features, for achieving precision with facial features, and perhaps self portraiture. Although there were no required books, students were encouraged to work with drawing instruction books and Manuel’s, to include George B. Bridgman’s “Bridgman’s Life Drawings”.
