No doubt you’ve noticed and admired lichens, but how well do you understand them? If you’d like to learn more, then this talk is for you. First, we’ll explore how lichenized fungi fit in with other fungi and how the lichen symbiosis works, and then we’ll consider the ecological importance of lichens and their vulnerability in the Anthropocene. We’ll end with a Top 10 List of local lichens that you can go out and find on your own. A magical miniature world awaits for all who care to take a closer look.
