Creamery Arts Festival

Arcata Creamery District

Pageantry, art, food and drink, live music, and a big top circus are all part of Arcata’s historic Creamery Building centennial celebrations! Arcata, CA. The 2017 Creamery Arts Festival celebrates the 100th anniversary of Arcata’s historic Creamery Building in style with four days of fun. Highlights include the Flynn Creek Circus, fermented food and drink at Fervor Fest, the giant puppets and lanterns of the ever-popular Elemental people-powered performance spectacle, and a whimsical exhibit of unique historical recreations by local artist Lush Newton. Thursday August 17 at 6 p.m. the festival kicks off with and opening reception for Lush Newton’s centennial inspired outdoor art exhibit “Golden State Creamery; The Land of Milk and Honey” which will feature oversized historical images around the building. In addition, the first of six shows by Mendocino County’s Flynn Creek Circus begins at 7 p.m. Come to the vintage big top tent for all-human spectacular performances by tightrope walkers, aerialists, jugglers, acrobats, and comedians. With their International cast, Flynn Creek Circus’ ‘Inter-Active’ fuses comedy, improvisation and jaw dropping skills to create a completely new genre in circus-theater. Friday August 18 at 8:15 pm presents the Playhouse’s signature outdoor performance spectacle Elemental. Pick out your favorite paper lantern and join the giant puppets, dancers, stilt walkers, and live music around the Creamery building. The evening ends with a special adult performance by the Flynn Creek Circus at 9 p.m. Saturday August 19 from 1-5 p.m. sees the return of Humboldt Fervor Fest, a benefit for Humboldt Made, and the Arcata Playhouse. The event is full of fermentation fun with sauerkraut, kimchi, kvass, cheese, pickles, hard cider, distilled spirits, beer and wine tastings, and fermented non-alcoholic drinks. Kick back to live music from Latin locals Timbata, Paula Jones Band, Belles of the Levee, RLA jazz trio with violinist Rob Diggins and Bandamonium, plus some special surprises.
