From the Golden Age of Radio in the 1920’s-19040’s, through to today, radio variety shows have captured the nation’s attention. From the good old days of crowding ‘round the radio for some evening entertainment, to covid-friendly holiday performances of 2020, radio finds ways to unite us through the airwaves. You can expect the usual lively, playful fun that our community has come to expect from the Arcata Playhouse performances, but over local radio! Listen to the show on KHUM, radio without the rules.
To join the fun and support the Arcata Playhouse, order appetizer or dessert plates to snack on as you listen! Appetizer plates from Lauren and Mariah Sarabia of Comfort of Home Catering can be ordered through the Playhouse website. Appetizer plates cost $15 each. Options will include a cheese plate with a savory spreadable chevre truffle, manchego, membrillo, garlic crostini, spiced nuts and pickled vegetables; a dip plate with red beet hummus, muhammara, veggies, and spinach balls; and a “tartlet trio” dessert plate with salted caramel cheesecake, lemon meringue bar and Mexican hot chocolate torte. The last day to order is Wednesday, December 9th and pickup will be the afternoon of the 12th from the Arcata Playhouse.
The Olde Time Radio Show is brought to you by the Arcata Playhouse and will be broadcast live on KHUM, 104.7 or 104.3 FM.
