Art Talk
Humboldt Artist Gallery artists, Sara Starr and Dana Ballard, will present for Art Talk at the MGMA on Sunday, March 2nd at 2 p.m.
Ceramic tile artist Sara Starr will share her process of creating high fire ceramic tiles using the “cuerda seca” method, a technique originated in 15th century Spain. Sara’s love of color and the natural environment are reflected in her finished works of redwood trees, shore birds, and wildflowers. Sara has been an artist member at Arcata’s Fire Arts Center since 2006 and has created commissioned works for the Sequoia Park Zoo.
Watercolor artist, Dana Ballard, illustrated Anasasi: The Legend of Teh Teh, a delightful children’s book about the lives and
lifestyles of the Anasasi Indians. Dana will share her process, the enigmatic history of Kokopelli rock art, the illustration process and will display the original art for this book and other projects. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
