Art Talk with Phyllis Thelen

Join artist, Phyllis Thelen, Sunday, May 4 at 2 p.m. for Art Talk, as she discusses her sculpture exhibition, Journeys of the Imagination. Thelen, a Marin County artist, creates delicate and exquisite sculptures out of natural materials including mulberry leaves, horsetails and bamboo. Her little retreats or sanctuaries, offer a symbolic place of safety and simplicity in turbulent times. Her vessels, symbols of passage and transformation suggest imaginary journeys of the spirit. Her strange and wonderful creatures appear as unusual beings encountered along the way. Journeys of the Imagination runs April 30-June 22 in the Anderson Gallery at the Morris Graves Museum of Art.
