Artist Talk with Bernadette Vielbig

The Black Faun Gallery

An artist talk with Bernadette Vielbig will take place at Black Faun Gallery on Saturday, March 23rd, 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Come to gain insight into the installation that has transformed Black Faun Gallery into a domestic seascape. Fluidity focuses on Vielbig’s relationship with water, and other elements of nature, as a cyclical force. Reuse, repetition, and the feedback loop of natural process appears throughout her work. With a fondness for the discarded, items are salvaged with mercy. These recycled articles are then spared from their last stop in the waste stream. Vielbig’s meticulous gathering and arrangement of these found objects results in a surreal landscape of multiplicity. Dry humor punctuates this environment, using absurdity as an entry point for these complex conversations. In each work there is a reverence and an homage to the items that once were useful. In Bernadette Vielbig’s own words, “I am finally at a point where the majority of my materials have been repurposed, and I will continue in that quest to find beauty and appreciation in forms that no longer function.” The Black Faun Gallery is located at the corner of 2nd and G Streets in Old Town Eureka. The gallery is open to the public Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and by appointment for private viewing.
