Artist Talk with Monica Coyne
Monica Coyne will be giving an artist talk in the gallery on Saturday, December 15th from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Come to hear her speak on her works from our current show, In this Moment. These pieces join delicate ornamentation and traditional blacksmith techniques, resulting in dynamic forms that stretch from rigid iron bars. Coyne creates works that challenge the limits of the material. Her art plays with the concepts of balance, function and form, and humankind’s place within the natural world. In Monica Coyne’s words, “I want to find answers with my hands in the metal. I am a human. I am complicit in the ugliness that we have created here but I am of this planet. The breathtaking beauty that I see around me everywhere, I come from that too. I should be able to be that too.” The Black Faun Gallery is located at the corner of 2nd and G in Old Town Eureka (Please use G St. entrance). The gallery is open to the public Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and by appointment. More information about Black Faun exhibitions and artists is available at blackfaunart.com or by contacting the gallery at (707) 798-6207.
