D•STATE

The Black Faun Gallery

The Black Faun Gallery presents D•STATE, a group show of surrealist work by sculptural installation artist, Nancy Tobin; collage artist, Curtis Patrick Arnold; and painter, Carin Billings from May 5 - 26, 2018. The Arts Alive opening takes place May 5 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. and will feature a musical performance by North Coast Repertory’s cast of Hedwig and The Angry Inch. Curtis Arnold will give an Artist Talk on Saturday, May 12 at 5:30 p.m, and an Artist Talk with Nancy Tobin will take place on Thursday, May 17 at 6:00 p.m. D-State, a term used for “dreaming sleep” by sleep researchers, is characterized by vivid experiences producing similar brain activity as waking experiences. Conversely, the Black Faun Gallery’s D•STATE exhibition offers a dreamlike waking experience delving into the inner imaginings of three Surrealists. Feminine figures populate darkly beautiful collages by Curtis Patrick Arnold and paintings and drawings of Carin Billings at the entrance of Nancy Tobin’s meandering neon dreamscape installation, My Pillow Falls. The Black Faun Gallery is located at the corner of 2nd and G Streets in Old Town Eureka. The gallery is open to the public Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and by appointment. More information about Black Faun exhibitions and artists is available at http://blackfaunart.com/ or by contacting the gallery at contact@blackfaunart.com or (707) 798-6207.
