Arts Alive: iPad Jazz Art

The Black Faun Gallery

Eureka’s Black Faun Gallery presents live iPad painting and digital art by local artist, Claire Iris Schencke. The exhibition opens on Saturday, September 2 during Arts Alive and runs through September 30, 2017. Iris will be painting live to the music of the Francis Vanek Quartet during Arts Alive. Claire Iris Schencke’s iPad art captures the spirit of live musical performances. She describes the emotional experience and spontaneity of her process, “While painting, I am caught up in the turbulence of this improvised art form. I leap into each painting opportunity with all the confidence I can muster and grow the piece layer by layer. I flow with the music, and the movement of the musicians - sliding back and forth in a frenzy between as many as twenty layers.” The result is vibrant, energetic swirls of color with the musician’s fluid images that seem to represent the flow of the moment. The Black Faun Gallery is located at the corner of 2nd and G Streets in Old Town Eureka. The gallery is open to the public Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and by appointment.
