Bryce Gray and the Lost Coast

The Historic Eagle House in Old Town Eureka is pleased to announce an exhibition of watercolor and oil paintings by Bryce Gray April 6th through June 1st. Celebrating the recent publishing of his book “Secrets of the Sinkyone; Wildflowers of the Lost Coast”, Bryce will be exhibiting paintings from the book as well as recent work and a few surprises. A long time resident of the north coast Bryce’s first local show was in 1972 at the Eureka Art Center In 1976 he joined Hobart’s Gallery in Ferndale, Humboldt county’s first art gallery and exhibited there continuously until it’s closing in 2007. Arts Alive on May 5th , the Eagle House will feature The Lost Coast Marimbas Band in the Bell Room. The band was originally formed by Bryce Gray and the late Archie Umina in 1987 and has been a festival favorite for years playing traditional and improvised music with a Latin flair. The band will play “unplugged” and with the ballroom’s excellent acoustics and a strong group of guest percussionists it promises to be a memorable Arts Alive.
