Austin Allison Campaign Launch
Austin Allison, a 25 year old Eureka resident who works as a Cardiac Monitor Technician at St. Joseph Hospital, as well as a small business owner, will officially launch his campaign for Eureka City Council on Thursday, September 15, at 5:15 at Sequoia Park. The public is invited to attend. Current Eureka City Council member Linda Atkins, who is serving as one of Austin’s campaign advisors, says “I am so pleased to support Austin’s run for City Council. His enthusiasm and fresh perspective will serve him well as a leader in the community. I hope other young people are inspired to get involved to lead Eureka forward when they learn about Austin and his campaign.” This is Allison’s first foray into elected politics. He describes his motivation for entering the race as follows – “I work closely with patients at the hospital, and I’ve worked with my own union to improve conditions for our membership. I made the decision to run because I felt it was my time to step up and continue this work with the community at the next level. The time is right for a new generation of candidates to help lead the way forward; society and our economy are changing rapidly, and our representatives and policies need to be ready to adapt and change to maximize opportunities for local businesses and build a strong middle class. I am ready to work cooperatively and creatively with my constituents, community leaders, city staff, and elected officials to strengthen and further economic development in Eureka for many years to come.” Please visit VoteAustinEureka.org for more information.
