Author & Pony Express Re-Rider Lizzi Tremayne
Lizzi Tremayne is the pen name of Elizabeth Thompson, an American author who now lives in New Zealand. She’s visiting the Fortuna Library on Friday June 24 at 4:00 p.m. and the Eureka Library at 3:00 p.m. Saturday June 25. In Fortuna, Lizzi Tremayne will discuss her adventures at the Pony Express Re-Ride and her novel, “A Long Trail Rolling” based in part on the history of the Pony Express. She’s coming to us fresh from riding in the Utah part of the Pony Express Re-Ride. This is a 10-day, 24-hour a day, non-stop event over the 1,966 mile route of the Pony Express National Historic Trail from California to Missouri. As you can see, this author goes to some lengths not only to research her stories but to bring them alive with personal experience. In Eureka, Lizzi will discuss her adventures at the Pony Express Re-Ride and provide a window into the process of writing historical fiction. History buffs, horse lovers, and anyone interested in authorship or self-publishing will enjoy this program. Lizzi Tremayne is an award-winning self-published author, equine veterinarian, and high school teacher who recently stepped down from being the President of the Romance Writers of New Zealand. She says “a California native, I have lived in New Zealand since 1991. The purpose of my trip to the USA is to ride a portion of the Pony Express Re-Ride over the Utah part of the trail included in my story, and I hope to have Go-Pro footage of my ride to show as part of a PowerPoint presentation.”
