Beauty of the Lost Coast Hike: Shelter Cove
Join Sanctuary Forest and Friends of the Lost Coast on Saturday, August 24 for the Beauty of the Lost Coast Hike, led by retired CA State Park Ranger, John Jennings. Normally held in Sinkyone Wilderness State Park (SWSP), this year’s hike will take place in Shelter Cove, due to a planned closure of Needle Rock Rd in SWSP.
The history of Shelter Cove and Bear Harbor will be discussed as well as tidepools, sea birds, mammals, geology, ocean rise, King Range info and more, with Spanish translation provided! Meet at 10am at Mal Coombs Park. This will be an easy walk down the beach to Deadman’s Point. Be sure to bring water and a snack – but no dogs please. This hike is free of charge, with donations gladly accepted to support the sponsoring organizations. Space is limited. Email anna@sanctuaryforest.org or call 707-986-1087 x 9# to RSVP.
