Birding Trip to Loleta Bottoms
Join Redwood Region Audubon Society and trip leader, Ken Burton, for a birding field trip to the Loleta Bottoms on Saturday, November 30 at 8:30 a.m. The crop fields, pastures, sloughs, and woodlands of the northern Eel River delta harbor an impressive variety of birds in “winter.” We’ll do a half-day trip to seek out uncommon species, possibly including Tundra Swan, Clark’s Grebe, Pacific Golden-Plover, Lesser Yellowlegs, Rough-legged Hawk, and Lapland Longspur. Meet Ken at 8:30 a.m. in front of Loleta Grocery to caravan out to the bottoms. Please be willing and prepared to carpool. We’ll return to town for an optional picnic lunch, which can be purchased there. Contact Ken at shrikethree@gmail.com with questions.
