Board Leadership Roundtable with Byrd Lochtie

The Northern California Association of Nonprofits invites the public to December’s Board Leadership Roundtable with Byrd Lochtie. This event, which is geared toward board members and those who work with them, is on Monday, December 1 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Humboldt Area Foundation, 363 Indianola Road in Bayside. This month’s topic is Executive Evaluation & Compensation. Boards often struggle with evaluating the top executive because there is a perception that evaluation means looking for what is wrong with one’s job performance. Evaluation should be based on an executive’s job description and how well that job is being done. Learn how to use it to help improve performance, not as a way to discipline or as a way of fault finding. Determining compensation can be challenging as well. Nonprofits of different sizes and in different geographical areas may show a range that is impossible for small nonprofits in Humboldt County to match. How can boards be fair to the executive, attract good people, and stay within budgets? Come discuss these issues with us at this month’s roundtable!
