Breathe For Blu

Main Street Art Gallery

“Breathe For Blu” kickoff fundraiser will be held for COTA in honor of Shanna ‘Blu’ Carlile-Roy, a Bridgeville-area resident who needs a Double Lung transplant. 37-year-old Shanna ‘Blu’ is being scheduled to receive a Double Lung transplant at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, California. Funds are being raised to assist with transplant-related expenses. There will be an exhibit and silent auction of photographs by Shanna ‘Blu.’ This is a free event with music and refreshments. Born in October 1975, Shanna ‘Blu’ was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, and was given a life expectancy of five years. As Shanna grew, so did her life expectancy. On September 11, 2001 (the day the Twin Towers fell), Shanna ‘Blu’ gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Sage. It was a miracle, especially considering Shanna’s health issues. After having to reschedule their wedding, Shanna ‘Blu’ got married to the love of her life, Abner Carlile-Roy, on September 21, 2013. They got married on the beautiful Trinidad State Beach, surrounded by loving friends and family. Shanna ‘Blu’ has been able to live past many doctors expectations, but now the doctors at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, California have recommended a life-saving double lung transplant. An estimated $35,000 is being raised by Bridgeville, Placer County, and Sacramento County volunteers. The family and friends of Shanna ‘Blu’ want to encourage everyone to attend our ‘Breathe for Blu’ and help give her a second chance at life. Shanna Blu’s family has asked for assistance from the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA), a national charity based in Bloomington, Indiana. COTA is dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are completely free of charge, and 100% of funds generated by COTA community fundraising campaigns are available for transplant-related expenses. [Shanna/Blu is scheduled to be there but that is subject to change]
