At press time, the wearing of facemasks is not mandatory, but it is strongly encouraged. If attending the concert in person is not an option, a free Livestream can be viewed at https://youtu.be/F3EICT2gVTQ. The concert starts with “Moondance,” the tune that put Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison on the map, reimagined by Grammy nominated arranger, conductor, and educator Jeremy Fox. Sarah Tolar is a New York City based vocalist, songwriter, producer and music educator. Her haunting “Coffee Man,” full of contemporary harmonies and insightful lyrics, reflects on life’s goals. Irving Berlin’s standard “How Deep is the Ocean?” receives a modern and sultry twist by arranger Rosana Eckert, who is principal lecturer of jazz voice at the University of North Texas. Brazilian composer João Gilberto’s joyful “Bim-Bom” presents a classic bossa nova, the genre he became known for internationally. The blues tune “Your Mind is on Vacation” by American jazz and blues pianist, singer, and songwriter Mose Allison receives a fun treatment in another fantastic arrangement by Rosana Eckert. The program concludes with “Bring Me Sunshine,” an upbeat swing tune originally written for Willie Nelson by Sylvia Dee and Arthur Kent.
