Change in Willow Creek

Willow Creek

General Plan and the ensuing zone changes. The Planning Dept is pushing these changes through and are not taking the water districts letters against the changes in consideration. The things you can do is write letters, text, and show up at the Planning Meetings as the bodies make the difference. Now what’s happening: There are 2 topics: 1. Changing the downtown to mixed use. The old plan did not address the marijuana issues. The new zoning will allow mj with necessary permits if they are within the required regulations ie:schools etc. 2. Mercer Fraser wishes to establish a grow at their site on 96. To do this they need to have the zone changed from CR (commercial residential) to Hiway Service Commercial. The General Plan has Mercer Fraser as well as the area north of the Trinity River Bridge at Patterson Road is in the same zone (CR) which includes the golf course. Currently there is no permit issued for the golf course as a grow area. With the zone change there is a section for agriculture and with the new mj rules the possibility of a grow in the golf course. Someone did ask if the trailer park would be forced to move out and the answer was no. The only way for residents to be heard is to be at the Planning Meetings and give them your voice. Send letters to: Humboldt County Planning Dept.3015 H St, Eureka 95501 Topic is Re-zoning inWillow Creek Get an agenda and Report for the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors at https://Humboldt.legistar.com Meetings are held in the Supervisors Chambers at the Courthouse, 825 5th st Eureka. Be sure and call before you leave Willow Creek because they often cancel the meetings at the last minute. Questions for the county: call John Miller at 707/268-3781 jpmiller@co.humboldt.ca.us Further information: the permit for the big grow below the post office, The plants are gone because they’ve been harvested. They must have their permit into the county along with $100,000. Fee by January 1,2019. The balloon payment is due, as far as I know, March, 2019. I have a question on how they move the mj out of the area as driving it on the hiway is eww and it can be confiscated. Why is this not being done. More hiway patrol will be visible to give citations for seat belts and speed. 1 mile over the posted limit is speeding and citations will be available. Crime is up: break ins, theft, shoplifting, trespass, disrespectful actions, is due to the the mj trade. It’s considered a gateway crime drug. If you need further clarification, you can call Susan or go to the WCCSD. However, if you want changes, then you have to take the responsibility and write letters, go to meetings. No one is going to do it for you. Jan Joki
