Cuttlebone Casting Workshop
Make your own small piece of jewelry, jewelry element, textured sheet, or decorative object.
On February 13th from 4-8pm, metalsmith, Tressa Thompson, will guide you through creating molds from cuttle fish bone, casting from grain, and final finishing.
Cuttlebone Casting is a traditional casting technique where molten metal is poured into a carved-out cuttlefish bone, which is soft enough to manipulate with a fingernail. The bone’s porous calcium carbonate interior creates a layered terracing that determines the surface of the casting.
All supplies included.
Students must be 18 years or older.
