HUMBOLDT ARTS COUNCIL 636 F St. Sponsored by Redwood Capital Bank. William Thonson Gallery & Anderson Gallery: William Thonson Gallery Katie Pasquini Masopust: Capriccio December 3, 2022 through January 22, 2023 This exhibition showcases Katie Pasquini Masopust’s art quilt/textile work over the past forty years. She draws from everyday inspirations, including nature, architecture, and her own paintings – to create distinctive art quilts. Katie combines the textures and colors of cloth to create intricate compositions focusing on abstraction, creating a plethora of visual delights and intrigue. She has always worked in series – choosing one idea and then exploring the many ways to express that idea – while keeping each piece new and exciting. This exhibition includes examples from over 20 years of her career. While they are technically referred to as “quilts” they are made to be showcased on the wall and enjoyed from a distance. It is a gift to view these pieces up close and personal because the colors and textures will consume and welcome you. Katie was born and raised in Eureka, California and remembers fondly the many years of enjoying the Morris Graves Museum of Art as a child when it was the Carnegie Library. She lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico for 25 years before returning to Humboldt County six years ago to live in Fortuna. She has taught her concepts and techniques and exhibited worldwide, won numerous awards, and is a self-taught artist who enjoys photography, painting and textile work. Anderson & Knight Galleries HAC Member Exhibition December 3, 2022 thru January 8, 2023 The Annual Humboldt Arts Council Member Show is a juried exhibition designed to highlight the fabulous art being produced by HAC Artist Members. The gallery features many exceptional Humboldt County artists currently working in our region. Designed as an artist cooperative, the gallery features local artists working in a variety of media from representational and abstract paintings, prints, jewelry, photographs, and ceramics. Members of the Humboldt Artist Gallery include Vicki Barry, Julia Bednar, Jody Bryan, Jim Lowry, Paul Rickard, Patricia Sundgren-Smith, Sara Starr, Kim Reid and Claudia Lima. A few of the artists will even be present over the weekend! It’s a great opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done and visit with some of Humboldt’s talented artists!
